Pass the Fire, Not the Fall
Fallout · Lost Hills Brotherhood
The story in the song
Before the next generation wakes the war machine, it must learn why the world went dark. Pass the Fire, Not the Fall is an original Fallout tribute to the Lost Hills Brotherhood of Steel: elders, scribes, initiates and guardians passing on knowledge with the warning still attached. Its hopeful final turn is a collective fan interpretation, not a claim of a canonical faction-wide reform.

Lyrics
Before you teach a child to wake the war machine,
teach them why the world went dark.
Under Lost Hills, lamps burn low
over blueprints scarred by smoke.
Every circuit, every cure
sleeps beside a weapon’s ghost.
We copy more than how it worked;
we mark the choice that made it wrong.
A record without consequence
is just the old world marching on.
Set the seal and test the wire.
Name each tool and name its price.
You gave us steel, but not a throne;
you taught us doubt can still be wise.
We learn the fault before the fix,
the weight before the grip,
so what survives beneath these stones
won’t make tomorrow pay for it.
Pass the fire, not the fall.
Keep the warning in the walls.
What we carry is not wisdom
if tomorrow wears those scars.
Hand to hand, and name to name,
we inherit more than flame.
Let the old world teach us all:
pass the fire, not the fall.
We wear the strength that cities feared
and feel their silence in the frame.
A suit can guard a caravan
or crown a tyrant all the same.
Teach when to lower what we raise,
not only where to stand.
Power is a borrowed thing,
not a birthright in our hands.
One hand solders what time broke.
One restores a holotape.
One remembers who was lost
when bright invention outran grace.
No one starts where we began;
no lesson ends when elders fade.
Knowledge lives when judgment grows,
not in a record sealed away.
We were taught to hold the line.
Teach us where the line should move.
We preserved the keys and codes.
We must choose what they unlock.
Memory is not a chain;
it is a map through ash and loss.
We will carry every answer
with the question of its cost.
Pass the fire, not the fall.
Keep the warning in the walls.
What we carry is not wisdom
if tomorrow wears those scars.
Hand to hand, and name to name,
we inherit more than flame.
Let the old world teach us all:
pass the fire, not the fall.
To the healer, pass the method.
To the builder, pass the plan.
To the soldier, pass the warning:
steel alone won’t save a land.
For the years we will not witness,
leave no answer carved in pride.
Leave the skill to mend the future
and the courage to revise.
Pass the fire beyond the wall.
Let the warning serve us all.
What we carry earns its worth
when it mends a wounded earth.
Hand to hand, and age to age,
duty lives beyond the page.
We preserve so they can choose -
Pass the fire, not the fall.
