Mass Effect - We Get Tomorrow
The Normandy crew gets a life beyond the war.
We Get Tomorrow imagines the Normandy crew after the Reaper War, with time for the lives they once thought they would never have. This Mass Effect what-if ensemble follows their different futures: rebuilding cities, finding a home, raising families, teaching, and choosing love.
Their shared tomorrow also carries the names of those who did not return. Peace gives the survivors room to become more than soldiers without forgetting what their future cost.

Lyrics
We knew how to die for tomorrow...
But what if we got to grow old?
I'll keep gangs off rebuilt streets,
Then find that bar where old friends meet.
No final toast, no last goodbye -
Just one more round beneath the sky.
On Rannoch, windows face the sun;
Our longest voyage now is done.
Old enemies help us sow -
There's more than crops
we're watching grow.
The clans want glory? Let them build!
Enough of graves our hatred filled.
My children's laughter shakes the floor -
Now that's a thing worth fighting for.
Born in a tank, built for attack,
Now little brats climb on my back.
I teach them strength; they teach me play -
Not a babysitter. Okay?
We get tomorrow! We get to stay!
More than the soldiers we were yesterday.
Rebuild the cities! Let every light burn!
Carry the names of those who won't return.
Whatever the stars call us to do -
We get tomorrow because we had you!
My sister laughs. The doors stay wide.
No father's shadow waits outside.
No more perfection by design -
Her life is hers, and mine is mine.
New school, same mouth. Get off your ass!
You're not their weapons. You're my class.
No locks, no numbers on your skin -
Get up. Breathe out. Now try again.
I broke my word and walked away;
Now I'm the one who begs her, "Stay."
No second chance. No ringing phone -
I made my choice. I sleep alone.
Beside my daughter, stone by stone,
I mend the refuge, not alone.
My code still guides the path I take -
But love is not an oath to break.
I grieve for you, and those you harmed;
We'll build a refuge, safe and warm.
I steal lost art from locked-up rooms,
Put color back where silence blooms.
One box of memories tucked away -
Not gone. Just room for one more day.
A beach, a drink, no debts to pay.
My rifle's close. Old habits stay.
The kid next door thinks scars are cool -
I tell him: "Learn a trade, you fool."
We get tomorrow! We get to stay!
More than the soldiers we were yesterday.
Rebuild the cities! Let every light burn!
Carry the names of those who won't return.
Whatever the stars call us to do -
We get tomorrow because we had you!
My sisters save a seat for me;
I bring new books of poetry.
Back on patrol, I hold the line
For every world, not only mine.
The orchard takes its time to bloom;
I leave my armor in my room.
I'll train recruits, but not today -
Today, I watch the branches sway.
I earned the seven on my skin;
Now rookies learn what makes a win:
You bring your people safely through -
That's what I learned from both of you.
I built a beacon for our fall;
Now children fill the lecture hall.
No warning sealed beneath the stone -
A history we call our own.
I'll help the scholar write it true:
We were not gods. We bled like you.
My vengeance ends. My words remain -
The last of us can build again.
We get tomorrow! We get to stay!
More than the soldiers we were yesterday!
No red alarms. No place to be.
Just her, the stars, the ship and me.
She laughs. I nearly miss the turn -
Some things the best still have to learn.
No code can tell me why I stay;
I choose his hand. I choose this day.
Not made of flesh, but this is real -
A future I am free to feel.
Your cure became a lullaby;
A thousand newborn voices cry.
You gave the years you couldn't see -
Now hear them laughing, running free.
Father, your prayer outlasts the rain;
These hands bring shelter, not more pain.
The son you saved now saves someone -
Your mercy walks beneath this sun.
Each one a name, a choice, a soul;
Not merely pieces of a whole.
We build beside the ones we fought -
The peace your final seconds bought.
No medals on the kitchen wall;
A table long enough for all.
We saved the world. Now let me try
To greet a day with no goodbye.
The stars are roads, not battle lines;
I set a course that no one signs.
We'll see what's out there, just because -
The sky belongs to all of us.
We get tomorrow! We get to stay!
More than the soldiers we were yesterday.
Rebuild the cities! Let every light burn!
Carry the names of those who won't return.
Whatever the stars call us to do -
We get tomorrow because we had you!
We get tomorrow! Let every world hear -
The ones we lost are still building it here.
Keep their places. Leave a light.
We made it home. Goodnight. Goodnight.
